Asutifi North MP awards GES Staff in his Constituency

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asutifi North Constituency, Hon Patrick Bannor, in his second edition his Teachers Awards on Wednesday 28th September, 2022 awarded both Teaching and Non-Teaching staff in the district for their outstanding performances in the education field.

The maiden Teachers Awards ceremony which was held at Ntotoroso was witnessed by teachers from all the levels (Primary, JHS, SHS,TVET) and Head Teachers who were presented with items such as Motor Bike, fridges, television sets, tablets and citations to the awardees.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament also awarded Officer in the Education Directorate in the constituency for the enormous contribution to the field of academia.

Some other people also benefited from the awards, these include some educational officers, students who took part in the just-ended regional reading competition and the ICT  competition who came out first in the region,  received tablets to support their studies.

Some traditional rulers were also given citations for their tremendous support to education in the district.

The programme was graced by numerous dignitaries and heads of department in the district and regional which includes the District Cheif Executive (DCE) Hon Anthony Agyei Mensah, the education directorate led by the director Naomi Asantewaa(MS) and the political leaders from the NPP party both regional and the district led by the Regional Chairman and other executives in the constituency.

The theme for this year's ceremony "Improving Positive Learning Outcomes in Asutifi North District through Teachers' Motivation- The Role of Stakeholders"

Hon. Patrick Bannor, addressing the gathering said the award which is dear to his heart was part of his  promise to the people of his contingency therefore there was the need to motivate the teachers as a way of improving the educational standard in the district.

According to him, education is one of the his target areas, and teachers are key in his agenda to transform the district to the highest level. He further listed some of the developmental projects being initiated during his first tenure of office such as constructing Teachers Accomodation at Gyamfi Kumanini SHSTS, donation of 500 dual desk to basic schools, donation of 1000 uniform to pupils, donated 75KVA Plant to Ntotroso College of Nursing etc.

The District Director of Education, Naomi Asantewaa (MS) commended the MP for his contribution to Education in the district. She said, "the initiatives of the MP and the Assembly has already started mainfested in the performance of the Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) from 49% to 96% in 2021.

She also congratulated the awardees for their outstanding performances which have received recorgnition form the MP.

The Education Director also called on other stakeholders especially, Newmont Ahafo Development Fund (NADeF) to come on board again to improve Education performance in the Asutifi North District.

In an interview with classicnewsgh, Collins Boakye, the overall best teacher from Kenyasi No.1 Methodist JHS, who went home with a motorbike and a fridge on behalf of his colleagues expressed his gratitude to the MP for the recognition and support

Barima Twereku Ampem, President of the Ntotroso Traditional Council also commended the MP for the initiative to motivate teachers.
